Handmade skincare is often produced in small batches rather than thousands of units at a time.

For us, that means each batch is made, labelled and checked by hand. We know what we've made, when we've made it and exactly what has gone into it.

Small-batch production also means we can take our time. We're not trying to produce as much as possible — we're trying to make something we're proud to put our name on.

2. You can know what you're putting on your skin

One of the things we love about handmade skincare is ingredient transparency.

At Arashel, we choose our ingredients carefully and keep our formulations straightforward. We don't believe you need a bathroom cabinet full of complicated products to care for your skin.

Our tallow balms, for example, are made with nourishing ingredients chosen for their purpose, rather than a long list simply to make the ingredient panel look impressive.

We want you to be able to look at the label and understand what you're buying.

3. Quality matters more than quantity

When you're making products on a small scale, every jar matters.

We don't want to make something that is simply good enough to sell. We want to make something we'd happily use ourselves — and something we're comfortable giving to our own family.

That's one of the foundations of Arashel: we won't make or sell something we wouldn't use ourselves.

Arashel is made here in Murrindindi, Victoria, with our products created in small batches rather than coming from a huge production facility on the other side of the world.

We love being part of our local community and meeting the people who use our products at markets, through our farm shop and online.

There's something lovely about being able to put a face to the name on the label.
